Osteoporosis and bone health
Osteoporosis and bone health
Our physiotherapy program is designed for individuals living with osteoporosis or osteopenia, those at risk of developing osteoporosis, and those recovering from a recent fall or fragility fracture.
Osteoporosis is often called the “silent disease” because bone loss can occur without noticeable symptoms until a fracture happens. Common fracture sites include the hip, spine, and wrist. Although the risk of osteoporosis increases with age, early assessment and appropriate management can help protect bone health and reduce the risk of fractures.
While osteoporosis cannot currently be cured, it can be effectively managed through a combination of medical and lifestyle strategies. These may include medication when appropriate, exercise, nutrition, strength and balance training, posture education, and fall-prevention strategies.
Our physiotherapy services are provided by a Bone Fit–trained physiotherapist, with a focus on safe, individualized and evidence-informed exercise and education. Our program can help you:
Improve strength and physical function
Maintain healthy posture and spinal alignment
Improve balance and reduce the risk of falls
Learn safe movement and exercise techniques
Build confidence with everyday activities
Support bone health and overall fitness
Safely return to activity following a fragility fracture
Whether you have been diagnosed with osteoporosis, are at increased risk, or are recovering from a fracture, our Bone Fit–trained physiotherapy approach can help you move safely, build strength, and maintain an active lifestyle with confidence.
